Hello there! AI LA refuses to be silent. We are outraged and heartbroken at the suffering and unequal treatment of the black community, the unnecessary loss of life and acts of hate and violence occurring across our country.

I have been building the AI LA community for over four years to bring together a community centered on shared values and interests, and to provide an open platform for candid discussions on how technologies impact society.

The murder of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, to name a few of many, remind us that systemic racism is a massive problem that has a legacy dating back to the very founding of the nation that has been under addressed by the leadership of our country at all scales.

Black lives matter! Racism has no place in our community. Period. Moving forward we will start to take a radical, proactive approach to ensure diversity and inclusion in AI LA’s activities.

AI LA was founded with the vision of being a platform for sharing ideas, experiences, and resources in a safe, open, and inclusive space. We believe in the power of communities like ours:

To help build the future we all want to see, AI LA has added a new goal to our mission. Building upon our existing goals from the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals around sustainability, wellness for all, and addressing climate change…

We ask YOU to take ACTION with us in an improved focus on Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities.

What AI LA is doing:

AI LA is collaborating with another organization on a new research project that hopes to address the problem of police brutality in LA. Together, we plan to use data and a literature review to develop a report that can help inform our local government and citizens on new strategies for addressing systemic issues caused by policing.

How you can help:

We want to engage in more conversations on this topic and develop a team of experts to join us in developing a data-driven report to serve as our roadmap for action.

If you have a deep understanding of systemic oppression and policy reform or can recommend someone who would like to contribute their expertise to helping us launch this report, please fill out this form.
