New speakers announced for RAIS22

Join us virtually and in-person for a reception following the event

Hey there!

It’s a beautiful day here in Los Angeles to share AI LA’s latest lineup of speakers for our 5th annual Responsible AI Symposium (RAIS) on June 16th, 1-5 pm PT. This will be a virtual event with an in-person reception to follow at the City Tavern in Culver City.

There is so much hype around “AI” that it can be exhausting to navigate what is real and what is just a buzzword in a pitch deck or on a website. AI practitioners and experts are highly skeptical of the content that fills up our news and social media feeds, which leads us to why we host our annual RAIS.

Misinformation is on the rise, and our annual RAIS is intended to help set the record straight about this overhyped technology and allow you to explore what we can do together to improve the benefits of AI while reducing its harms, negative impacts, and risk.

Whether you are an AI practitioner or just AI curious, this year’s RAIS will allow you to explore how to kick start your practical journey in reducing the harms and risks created by AI Systems through an interactive virtual experience.

Selika Josiah Talbott, Founder of AVC Consulting LLC and Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California, will kick off the day with a Keynote on how companies and individuals can work to bring about equity in creating responsible technology, including addressing awareness of both benefits and potential harms.

The remaining content will flow from a fireside chat with Stephen Ibaraki, founder of AI for Good @ UN ITU, to an interactive audience-driven exercise for plotting our own paths forward for a better world with AI, a panel discussion on short-term and long-term AI Safety, tea breaks, to Spotlight Talks from Stanford HAI and Google, including 4 Pechakucha talks from leading experts in the industry.

Join Mike (Xuning) Tang, Associate Director of Responsible AI at Verizon, as he leads a panel discussion about the AI landscape in Los Angeles, and why researchers and practitioners call LA home to build Responsible AI. Panelists: Swabha Swayamdipta, Gabilan Assistant Professor at USC Viterbi, Violent Peng, Assistant Professor at UCLA CS, Vince Lynch, CEO at IV.AI, and Sarthak Sahu, Co-head of AI at Virtualitics.

If you're tired of the hype and want to talk about practical, responsible, helpful AI then please join us virtually on June 16th!
