Hey AI LA Community,

They say time in the AI world moves in dog years, but here in Los Angeles, it feels more like we’re operating on a quantum clock. Every two weeks we blink and more breakthroughs have happened—and more importantly, more connections have been made within this community.

Lately, we’ve been looking back at the incredible energy from our recent events and mixers AND looking forward to a packed calendar of upcoming events (which you can check out below!). But as our community scales, so does the behind-the-scenes work required to keep this engine running.

To be candid: We have a massive mountain of work ahead of us, and we can’t climb it alone.

Be an AI LA Volunteer - Help Us Build the Future!

AI might be great at summarizing transcripts, but it’s not quite ready to set up physical event stages or fully navigate the nuances of grant applications. That’s where you come in. We are looking for passionate humans to join our volunteer core in four key areas:

  • Summit Architects: Engineer the themes and curate the high-signal speaker lineups that define our tentpole events. Help us shape the AI narrative in Los Angeles by bringing together pioneers and perspectives that inspire.

  • Narrative Designers: Craft the high-impact content and digital strategies that broadcast our community's breakthroughs. Hone the voice of our initiatives, ensuring our resources and event insights reach talent in every corner of the city.

  • Experience Engineers: Deploy world-class community activations by managing the mission-critical logistics that bring our IRL events to life. Be the boots on the ground ensuring we create seamless, high-fidelity environments where our community connects and grows.

  • Ecosystem Architects: Build the collaborative frameworks and grant-funded campaigns that fuel our mission. Serve as the bridge between AI LA and the organizations providing the resources to identify opportunity, accelerate career pathways, and increase technical access and confidence.

Whether you have a few hours a month, a specific professional skill you’re itching to use for a good cause, or develop your AI practice in one of these domains, we’d love to have you on the team.

This workshop introduces participants to this new wave of AI coding agents and shows how they can be used to build real applications faster. Led by Tejas Rajurkar, the session will walk through practical setup, demonstrate a live build using Codex, and give participants time to experiment with the tools themselves.

What we’re reading and reflecting on

Priya Parker’s The Art of Gathering is a frequent re-read of mine because it reminds me that purpose should always outshine logistics. As I look at where we’re going next, I’m thinking deeply about intentionality—how we craft environments where every person feels seen, heard, and truly valued. To me, a gathering only succeeds if we leave better off for having spent that time together.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve been underwater lately, and I know my presence over email hasn't always reflected this level of care. I’m currently realigning and reprioritizing to ensure that our interactions—whether in person or in an inbox—are as meaningful and intentional as the community we’re building.

Since I started my Frontier AI Governance class with BlueDot last week… I’m consuming lots of policy write ups. It’s awesome to have context into how other countries are figuring out their legislative goals, and regulatory frameworks for safety and alignment. This article about China (written October 2025) was especially interesting in comparison with the US and UK frameworks. I think about how woefully inept our sectoral approach is right now, let alone the regulatory fragmentation we are seeing in this federalist government. There’s a lot to comment on communism but inefficiency might not be one of them when trying to corral academia, enterprise and government to get on the same page.
