The New Normal & The Future of Work w/ Google
Happy Cinco de Mayo and Teacher Appreciation Day!
The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you. - B.B. King
We can all agree that you never stop learning. Being a lifelong learner enhances our understanding of the world and provides us better opportunities for professional and personal growth.
We need to have a growth mindset to get out of this situation ahead!
How are you staying healthy, happy, and productive?
If you are free, we’d love to see you tonight at 5-7pm to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and all of the teachers who have impacted our lives.
The New Normal
A few weeks ago we launched a virtual discussion series called “The New Normal” to help you exercise your critical thinking and remove you from your daily routine to debate and discuss a specific topic.
This Thursday, May 7th we will be discussing Responsible AI with William Powers.
“Technology is neither good nor bad; nor is it neutral,” said tech historian Melvin Kranzberg. In recent years AI has been proving him right again, as the many benefits of these technologies are undercut by a plethora of negative human effects. They range from unfair biases in hiring algorithms to concerns about surveillance capitalism to social polarization from online filter bubbles. The tech industry has been scrambling to respond, so far without much success.
Can AI better reflect human values? How do we make that happen?
AI LA and Google are hosting a special virtual panel discussion on May 21st to discuss The Future of Work. How is the pandemic disrupting the way we conduct business, what will be the long term impact on traditional workplaces, how do we recover, and how do we prepare for the future?
We will discuss how AI is changing the workplace, the need for advanced skills, and the ethical considerations of AI regarding employability, especially during this crisis time where unemployment in the greater LA area is geared to reach 32% by the end of May 2020.
